Securing a multi-account AWS organization for a federal agency: enterprise-wide policy enforcement, compliance monitoring, encryption, firewalls, and automation that replaced manual work with scripts that never sleep.

Chapter VI · The Cloud Architect
Cloud Security Architect Consultant — MICROINSIGHT
Took legacy monoliths apart and rebuilt them serverless — Lambda, API Gateway, S3, Step Functions — provisioned by reusable Terraform modules, deployed with zero downtime. Less server, more system.

Senior System Engineer — Akamai Technologies
Five years as an SME to dev teams shipping to data centers around the world. Hundreds of Windows servers, Kubernetes-managed containers, AWS and Azure builds, scripting traffic with Python and Perl — operating at the scale where the internet itself is the machine.

Lead System Engineer — State of the Internet
The whole IT mission on my desk: strategy, security policy, network design, and a VMware vCenter cluster running everything from Active Directory to SQL. This is where evaluating cloud computing for the business became part of the job — and the future.

Supervising techs across the country, rebuilding telco racks, restoring networks. When something was down, I was the one they called to make it not be.

Seven hundred machines in one school and every one of them my problem. Managing Mac and Windows fleets, building OS image catalogs, backup and recovery, training the staff — the first taste of making technology serve people at scale.

Before the machines, there was discipline. Leading Marines, forecasting requirements, running inventory and logistics — learning that systems only hold when the person running them holds first.
